Sen. Carlos Uresti Joins Teachers and Public Safety Personnel in Opposing SB 1968

Austin, TX—Today Texas Senate Republicans rammed through anti-union legislation designed to curtail an employee’s freedom to contribute to their union from their paycheck. The bill specifically targets thousands of hardworking Texans including teacher’s and government employee’s unions.

Senator Uresti responds to Senate passage of HB 1

The Texas Senate passed HB 1, the state budget for the 2016-2017 biennium today. Senator Carlos Uresti, appointed to the Senate Finance Committee for the first time, joined 29 Senators in voting aye on the budget. Uresti spoke on the Senate floor to highlight the increase of $41 million for Child Protective Services prevention programs. HB 1 will now go to conference committee where appointed members will negotiate differences between the House and Senate budgets.

Sen. Carlos Uresti passes major alternative fuels initiative

Austin, TX—Today the Texas Senate took a historic step in promoting the use of alternative fuels produced in Texas. Senate Bill 12 by Senator Carlos Uresti will create a program that will convert the state fleet to natural gas and other alternative fuels, as well as fund the construction of a limited number of fueling stations.

Sen. Uresti announces major alternative fuels initiative

Senator Carlos Uresti, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Railroad Commissioner David Porter and other legislative, agency, and industry leaders today announced the filing of Senate Bill 12 to provide financial incentives for state agencies, counties and cities to purchase vehicles that use less-polluting alternative fuels.
